Description:

This hands-on session is designed to introduce students to the essentials of using the Shaper Origin, a handheld CNC router. Students will gain foundational knowledge to work effectively with this versatile tool in the wood club. During the class, participants will:

  • Explore the resources available for the Shaper Origin within the wood club, including reference materials and support tools.
  • Familiarize themselves with wood examples made with the Shaper Origin.
  • Familiarize themselves with the Shaper Origin workbench, its layout, and the equipment stored within it.
  • Learn the fundamental principles of operating the Shaper Origin, including setup, calibration, shutdown, and safety guidelines.
  • Review the various accessories available for the Shaper Origin and how to use them to expand the tool's capabilities.
  • Perform basic machine operations to practice creating precise cuts and designs, preparing them for future projects.
