Description: This is a class which applies the techniques of the Basic Lathe l instruction to bowl turning. The topics to be covered are:
- Getting started, review all basics
- Tools – bowl gouge, scrapers, parting tool – tool orientation and sharpening angles
- Grain and cutting direction, tool control
- Mounting and cutting bowl bottom
- Cutting the top and finishing the bottom
- Design elements
Each participant will practice turning a square blank into a small bowl.
Enrollment: Limited to three students per class, with a minimum of one
Schedule: 3 hours — there is a new class each month (verify dates and times using online wood club monthly calendar)
Student Requirements: None — instructors will prepare the needed material for each student
Tools will be provided, but student may their bring their own to use and to verify sharpening angles
